Beautiful Feet Ballet brings CS Lewis’ wintry wonderland to life this month when it presents The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at Prescott’s Ruth Street Theatre. Known locally for combining classical technique with spiritual heart, the ballet will run in four performances over the weekend of December 13-14, offering family-friendly matinees and evening shows that promise magic for children and adults alike.

For Beautiful Feet Ballet this isn’t a one-off holiday diversion, but a gathering tradition. The company bills the upcoming run as its second annual winter production of the ballet, following a well-received staging last year. Tickets are intentionally affordable (around $20), ensuring that families across the region can experience the story’s blend of courage, forgiveness, and redemption through classical ballet. The Ruth Street Theatre on the Prescott High School campus provides an intimate setting well suited to the production’s character-driven choreography.

As Director Jenna Fair explains, “Beautiful Feet Ballet was born from a simple desire to combine classical ballet with a Christ-centered mission. We want every step, every movement, to point hearts toward Jesus and to remind our community that beauty and faith belong together.”

Beautiful Feet’s Narnia is presented as a faith-friendly, family-centered retelling, leaning on the expressive clarity of ballet rather than spoken text. Choreography emphasizes the emotional arcs of the children who find themselves swept into the snowy realm, Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter. The choreography pays particular attention to the forces that shape the story: the chilling dominion of the White Witch and the restorative power embodied by Aslan. Costumes, staging and original movement vocabulary work together to translate Lewis’ allegory into wordless, dance-driven storytelling that’s accessible to younger audience members while offering fine detail for seasoned theatregoers.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is a beloved tale and an enduring allegory of grace. Through the language of ballet, we get to tell a story where love conquers fear and light breaks through winter’s darkness. It’s a perfect reflection of the message we celebrate this season,” says Fair.

While Beautiful Feet’s version is a local, dance-centered telling, the Narnia story has a rich and varied history on stage. Several acclaimed adaptations drew raves for imaginative theatricality, showing how adaptable Lewis’ tale is across different forms, from straight drama to large-scale musical and ballet interpretations, and how audiences respond to inventive, family-oriented stagings.

This production brings together over 100 dancers from across the Prescott region. It’s a full-scale ballet blending artistry, storytelling and faith, inviting audiences to step into Narnia and rediscover wonder and joy. Fair says, “We want audiences to feel transported into Narnia, and into the truth that beauty, courage, and grace are all around us. Our dancers pour their hearts into this performance, and we hope people leave feeling uplifted and inspired.”

Beautiful Feet Ballet’s performances provide young dancers opportunities to tackle narrative roles on regional stages. Whether you’re new to Narnia or returning for another journey through the wardrobe, the Beautiful Feet Ballet production promises an evening of winter wonder — dance, drama and a timeless story of hope that’s especially resonant during the holiday season.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe will play December 13-14 at 2 and 6pm in the Ruth Street Theatre, 1050 Ruth Street in Prescott. More at beautifulfeetballet.ludus.com.
